Attachment Books – Helping Looked After Children
“A Great And Informative Read!”
We have recently finished a copy of ‘A Guide to Attachment – and how it can affect peoples’ lives’, written by John Timpson. Online you’ll find reviews singing it’s praises- ‘One of the most comprehensive books on Attachment ever.’
The author’s name is a well known one, he is Chairman of Timpson Ltd. In 2004 he was awarded the CBE in the Birthday Honours List for Services to the Retail Sector and in 2017 was knighted for his services to business and fostering!
John talks a little about his experiences of fostering when interviewed in 2015. “When our youngest child first went to school, my wife, Alex, looking for a new role, answered an advertisement for foster carers. Having been a nanny before we were married, Alex was perfect for the job. I just tagged along, fascinated to see what fostering would bring into our lives. With all Alex’s experience, we thought it would be easy. With a loving home, regular meals and prompt bedtimes there wouldn’t be many problems. Thirty-one years, 90 foster kids and two adopted children later, we now know life isn’t that straightforward.” (SRC: Telegraph)
